3rd-party IR remotes

I saw the FAQ regarding this topic but am curious to know what the possibilities are. Does Remote Buddy have access to the actual raw signal being received by the Mac's IR receiver, or is RB only remapping the system-interpreted signal? If RB can access the raw signal, then the addition of a "signal mapper" utility within the application would allow users to create their own 3rd-party IR remote configurations.

Hello Glen,

Apple provides a kernel extension (kext) for the IR receiver that
then generates events in the HID system. Remote Buddy, just liek
Apple's own rcd.app uses these HID events to receive actions from the
remote.

So, no, there's no "raw", direct hardware access to the IR receiver
in Remote Buddy.

Best regards,
Felix
