iTunes Interaction

I have two observations about the interaction between RemoteBuddy and iTunes:

- sometimes, the iTunes menu in RemoteBuddy will be unable to 'detect' the current playing song in iTunes and the volume, rating, song info parts become greyed out; after this point the only way I can get the song detection back again is to restart RemoteBuddy

- the song information part of the iTunes menu in RemoteBuddy doesn't support unicode; it only displays my English songs correctly, other languages come up as question marks

Hi!

Thanks for your feedback.

1) Can you limit this phenomen to certain songs by any chance?

2) I'm working on this. Right now, Remote Buddy uses AppleScript to
retrieve this information. Unicode names seem to be broken by that.

3) This is a known bug and I'm working on this, too.

Best regards,
Felix

Re: iTunes information menu
I can't readily reproduce this problem, it only shows up every so often. If I can figure out how to reproduce this easily, I will post more information. Thanks for replying to my post.

Hi,
I have the same issue with the 'ratings-bar' becoming greyed out and inaccessible. So far I haven't been able to reproduce, although Front Row seems to be a factor. When the 'Front Row quick exit' is greyed out I know that the iTunes ratings bar is greyed out too. It also happens regularly when iTunes stops at the end of a playlist. Using QuickTime also seems to be a factor sometimes. Other than that I can't find any pattern yet. I have tried with all other applications closed, but that doesn't prevent it from happening so it doesn't seem to be an incompatibility with other open app's. The type of musicfile doesn't seem to be a factor. It happens mainly while cruising through the Remote Buddy-menues. (as a new and impressed user I do that a lot ;-)) What maybe is worth mentioning is that at the same time as the greying out also the volume bars (in all apps like iTunes (both system~ and itunes volume bar), Front Row, QuickTime, VLC, etc.) are 'empty', although the sound is at a normal level. Quit and restart does the job though. Maybe a good idea to add a menu-option 'Quit and Restart Remote Buddy'?
Great application though, I really really love it!

Hello Jan,

thanks for the feedback!

Please let me know, if this problem still occurs with Preview 10b2
and if so, in which places.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Felix

After the update I have tried extensively for more than a week to recreate the 'grey-out problem', but it seems to be solved. So thumbs up for you Felix!
