Send events to Plex when Plex does not have focus

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I'm in the process of setting up Remote Buddy and Plex with my new Mac Pro.

I am using 2 displays: 1 cinema display as the primary display and a plasma as a secondary display.

My aim is to be able to use Plex as a background task to run for the home theatre, whilst being able to do tasks on my desktop.

Everything is working quite nicely except for 1 thing: When Plex doesn't have focus, for example if I am viewing a web page on the primary display, all of the events from the Sony BD remote are sent to the application with the focus.

I was looking at the custom actions and I think it looks possible to be able to send an event directly to an application (by class or some other way).

Any help with an example how to send an event/keystroke directly to Plex would be greatly appreciated!
