Remote Applescript error with newest version (1.17)

Hi! I've been using Applescript to forward remote control events from one machine to another on my network. Basically I've defined Actors for each button press/release event that does something like this:

tell application "Remote Buddy" of machine "eppc://me@mymachine"
scriptremote button "menu" event "press"
end tell

This was all working perfectly until yesterday when I updated both machines to Remote Buddy 1.17 -- now it gives me an error "Application isn’t running." Of course the Application is running on both machines. I can remotely script other applications, so it's not a connectivity problem, and I have the password saved in my keychain. It also fails when I input the password in the eppc:// url as well.

Is there a solution to this problem? If not, is it possible to downgrade to the previous version?

EDIT -- I found an older version on a shareware site (1.16.4) and installed it on the machine that's receiving the remote apple events. Now it works again. I'll just stick with this and turn off the automatic updates for now, but maybe you should look into this. It's kind of an edge case, but other people might find remote apple scripting useful.

Built-in Online Updater

The Online Updater tells me that a new update is available, but the installation fails. (FAQ015E0207)
If Remote Buddy's Online Updater does not have the necessary access rights, the Online Updater can't succesfully complete the update process. At the time of speaking, no error message will appear due to this.
To update to the latest version, please download Remote Buddy from
http://www.iospirit.com/remotebuddy/download/
and install it manually.

Hardware - Apple® Remote

After uninstalling/quitting Remote Buddy, my Mac® no longer reacts to the Apple® Remote. (FAQ015E0241)
To enable you to use all capabilities of the IR Receiver of your Mac®, Remote Buddy is using its own driver. In contrast, all other applications with integrated Apple® Remote support usually use the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.

As long as you're running Remote Buddy, Remote Buddy and its driver are responsible for turning the received button presses into actions. As soon as you quit Remote Buddy, this task is again handled by the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.

If other applications don't use the interface to the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem correctly, this can lead to the effect that nothing happens when you press a button on your Apple® Remote. For as long as you're running Remote Buddy, issues like this are covered by Remote Buddy and it's driver and are therefore not visible to you. However, as soon as you quit Remote Buddy, the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem is back in control and any issues caused in it by other applications become visible.

Therefore Remote Buddy is neither the cause of the issue nor is it responsible for it. Instead, the cause of the issue exists independently of Remote Buddy. It's located elsewhere and can also only be solved there.

It can locate issues with a single click and will provide you with information about the issue as well as with instructions on how you can fix it.
After updating to OS X 10.6.2, my Apple® Remote is no longer available for selection in Remote Buddy. (FAQ015E0236)
Please update your copy of Remote Buddy to version 1.15 or later.
