SlingPlayer / Keyboard mapping issue.

Ok, I don't know if this is a Remote Buddy issue, a Sling Player issue, or a Remote issue. I'm pretty sure its Remote Buddy :)

I have it all up and working, but channel up is not changing the channel on my sling player. = is the keyboard code for changing the channel. If I press this manually it works fine. If I try to change the behavior to a keystroke command, Remote Buddy does not let me type = in the window. If I type =, I get a `. Sounds to me like an internation keyboard problem perhaps?

Hello Lee,

thanks for asking.

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but a ' is what you get on your keyboard
layout when not pressing any modifier keys (alt, shift, ...), isn't it?

So, what Remote Buddy does is to display the "default" key and then
add the modifiers used during entering via the respective checkboxes.
Just like you see an "Ctrl + Alt + A" in your menu rather than the
corresponding character.

The keystroke should still work just fine, though. Don't let the
display confuse you.

Best regards,
Felix

Hi Felix, I am having exactly the same problem here.

When running SlingPlayer for mac, pressing "=" without any modifier makes the application to channel up. However when I attempt to capture the keystroke "=" without any modifier, I get something like "´". It's not "'" or "`". I couldn't even find this symbol on my keyboard. And of course the result is that channel up key doesn't work.

I am pretty sure that I didn't use any key modifier with "=" when operating Sling Player. Neither do I use any modifier when capturing the keystroke in Remote Buddy.

I am using Remote Buddy verion 1.0 Preview 12 (RC1). My Sling Player version is 1.0.2.145 beta (though I guess there is noting wrong with it). I am using a Intel based Macbook Pro with Traditional Chinese set as default language.

I need Remote Buddy to work with my Sling Player. Please help.

Many thanks!

Hello and thanks for your posting.

Which keyboard layout are you using?

Is it the same for all applications (Apple supplies a menu item,
which switches back and forth between keyboard layouts depending on
app - which I personally found very confusing until I found the
option to turn this off)?

Since Remote Buddy replays the keycodes, not the characters, the
keyboard layout shouldn't matter at all as long as the same key and
modifiers are in use as in the keyboard layout you are regularly using.

Sidenote: being based in Germany, I don't have access to a SlingBox
and thus can't test and debug the SlingPlayer Behaviour myself.

Best regards,
Felix
