EyeTV 2 scan ahead confict with Remote Buddy
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I'm just getting into HTPC (mac mini intel + diversity tuner) and notice a problem that no one else seems to have commented on.

EyeTV (2.4.1) allows recordings to be scanned ahead / reviewed at user determined rates (eg 16x). When hold down the appropriate button on the Apple Remote, the rate nicely displays on the screen while scanning through the recording.

If Buddy Remote (1.0.5) is active, the scanning doesn't seem to work - the rate isn't displayed and the recording seems to rapidly jump ahead (perhaps at 30 sec intervals) such that holding the forward button down for a couple of secs will advance the recording by a couple of minutes!

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Andrew

There's two different ways of fast forwarding with EyeTV. One is Skip Forward which is (depending on your settings) a 30 sec jump. The other is Fast Forward which is the 2x, 4x, 8x, etc forwarding. Just set your EyeTV actions to be Rewind and Fast forward instead of Skip Backward and Skip forward.

Hope that helps.

Hello Andrew,

thanks for asking.

What you observe is not a conflict between Remote Buddy and EyeTV:
Remote Buddy executes the actions assigned to the buttons for the
respective Behaviour. For EyeTV, the default is "Turbo rewind" and
"Turbo fast rewind".

However, this of course is configurable, so that if you want the 16 x
rewind and fast forward, all you have to do is to choose the "Rewind"
and "Fast forward" actions for the Left(held) and Right(held) entries at

Preferences >Behaviours > EyeTV

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Felix

Thanks for the suggestions.
I've now done a bit more reading and realise that the power of RB is not just its 'out of the box' functionality but the ability to customise behaviours etc.

Now all I need to do is find the time to play with it...

Andrew.
