How to duplicate a profile / Hierarchal menus don't work
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
After a recent update I noticed that the remote buddy layout has changed - there are now the hierarchal and non-heirarchal options for the menu.

When I change it to hierarchic (Preferences - General - Menu Structure Style - Hierarchic...) it doesn't actually change, even after restarting RB.

I noticed that the "default profile" is hierarchic, and "Mike's Profile" is not. when I change profiles, it does indeed change the structure.

1st question - Is there something I can do make it so it changes when I select the menu structure under the general tab?

2nd question - Is there a way to duplicate a profile? I'd like the experment around with some different layouts for profiles, but whenever I create one it it is empty - I'd love for a way to create a new one that has the default layout, which I could then modify.

Hi,

profiles are organized this way:

- there's the default profile (=> whose layout you determine with the
option at Preferences > General > Menu Structure Style)
- user-defined profile(s)

Which profile is used is determined by your selection in Preferences >
Menu.

Thus, if you choose your a user-defined profile, that one will also be
used - regardless of what you set in Preferences > General. That
option only determines which style is used for the default profile.
The default profile has to be selected to be used.

Regarding your second question:
Right now, duplicating or creating pre-populated profiles is not a
feature of Remote Buddy. This is on the ToDo list however.

The next version will bring a lot of improvements in this area.

Best regards,
Felix
