Using custom behaviours
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I am not sure what I am supposed to do to create a custom behaviour.
I created a new behaviour for an application of mine, associated the application bundle and specified a few actions for the apple remote.
But when I exit the Beh.Constr.Kit and go into preferences, I can find the behaviour nowhere, and am thus unable to add it to my profile.
I tried restarting RB and the mac, but no change.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
Did you also try to install & test / install permanently the behaviour?
(the icon next to "-" under the list "scripted behaviours"-
As you do so it should be in the behaviour list under preferences without restarting RB.
hope that helps.

Though I must say that it does not work consistently. I just made a few further changes to my custom behaviour, clicked compile and install permanently. when i went into preferences, the behaviour was not available anymore, while in the menu there was still the old behaviour. so either i am doing something wrong or there is a subtle bug somewhere...

hi christian,
maybe look at this thread:
( http://www.iospirit.com/index.php?mode=view&obj_type=infogroup&obj_id=24&sid=5192179Ge7ff4f045a02c972&o_infogroup_objcode=infogroup-23&o1_infogroup_objcode=html-120&o3_supportgroup_view=forum-11&o4_forum_dmode=view&o4_forum_forumentry_id=12313 )
i had problems with installing behaviours too, which was up to the "behaviour-identifier".
renaming that one as felix suggested solved it for me.
hope that helps.

Just as a follow-up:
I deleted all my behaviours and re-created them from scratch, and now everything works as advertised. So I would say that the problem I was experiencing might be due to incompatibility between behaviours created with older versions of buddy and newer versions of the software.
