Extending Remote Buddy to Home Automation

Remote Buddy looks like a great product, but my mac mini that I want to control will be attached to my TV and audio receiver. I'd like to be able to control the TV and receiver through the Remote Buddy as well. I don't know of any device that allows a Mac to control devices via RS232 connection as would be done by a Crestron device or Pronto RFX9600 serial extender. If there is such a device could this be then controlled by Remote Buddy? If not many devices of this type support AJAX control. Could these devices be controlled directly through RemoteBuddy? I'd love to get an iPod touch to control my whole entertainment system.

One such device I found that could be useful is:

I wonder about this same thing, using an Arduino via the Serial port. <cool>
