Multiple Keyspan RF Remotes

Is it possible to have multiple Keyspan RF Front Row Remotes and assign them different commands like you can Apple Remotes? Just thought I would check before I bought another one.

Thanks,

Thanks for asking.

Given that there is a pairing option for the Keyspan RF Remote for
Front Row with the two buttons on the receiver and the remote, I'd
think that these two use some sort of ID internally. Yet, I really
can't tell how that feature works and whether it supports several
remotes side by side. I only own one of these remotes and thus can't
try.

I also had a look at the driver sourcecode and the RF Remote for Front
Row driver currently only supports one receiver at a time. Changing
that shouldn't be too much of a deal, though - I just need to find the
time for that.

How would you put two of these remotes to use?

Here is how I currently do it with Apple remotes, and I've replaced one of them so far with a RF remote because the IR repeaters that I have suck.

When Remote Buddy recieves commands from the home theatre remote, it turns on the reciever, the projector, and start either the bluray player, or eyetv depending on what button was pressed.

The upstairs remote turns on the distributed audio system and starts music playing.

It all works really well, but if I could get rid of the IR flakiness, it would work even better. I've been playing with the RF remote, and I love it.

Thanks,

Clay

Would the goal of adding another RF remote for Front Row be to just
get a second remote with the same functionality as the one you already
own - or would you want to map the second one differently?

BTW: if you Mac is equipped with Bluetooth, the Sony BD Remote could
also be an option. It has a lot of buttons and it reacts pretty
snappy, too.

I would want to map them separately. Thanks for the info about the Sony Bluetooth remote, that sounds like it would work better in the theatre than a keyspan remote due to it having more buttons. I guess I didn't realize it was supported.
