Streaming KFI radio to remote speaker?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I bought an Imac 2 yrs ago, so that I could get KFI radio via the internet. Two years ago I could put their url in itunes--today requires that I access their web site to start the stream--which I can do on my imac in my home office. I would like to hear KFI in my kitchen and am considering getting some powered speakers and Airport Express. Will your remote buddy allow me to stream KFI to my remote speakers? Once you have your Remote Buddy in the app store, could I control this via my iphone, while in the kitchen? (Today, I use the Remote app on my iphone in the kitchen, but it only controls what is in itunes).

In my kitchen, I have an hdtv (small) with component cable to attach to my iphone's universal dock, but all the buttons on the remote with the universal dock don't work (like the Menu button) when watching podcasts. With your current remote buddy app, would I be able to program the Universal Dock's remote, to get more function out of the remote?

Thanks for asking.

Remote Buddy itself does not stream any audio to an Airport Express.
Its AirPort Express support is limited to selecting/deselecting
AirPort Express speakers in iTunes' interface.

The IR receiver in the Universal Dock is not accessible by a computer,
since it's not available via USB. It thus can't be used by or with
Remote Buddy. Please see the Remote Buddy website for the full list of
supported receivers and remotes.

The Apple Remote can't be reprogrammed (by any software). It's just a
simple IR remote control.

BTW: Remote Buddy is not about reprogramming the hardware of remotes.
It doesn't, can't and really also shouldn't do that. Remote Buddy is a
MacOS X application executing defined actions on the Mac computer when
it receives a button press/repeat/release event from a supported
remote control.
