Remove Safari wrapper around AJAX remote?

Hi Felix,

Do you know about this new "Web App" feature in 2.1?
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/10/03/latest_iphone_software_supports_full_screen_web_apps.html

Do you have any plans to implement this in the Remote Buddy AJAX remote? It would be good, as I often pull the page down by mistake and then the address bar gets in the way.

I think this would be a great addition, though one could make the change in the ./WebRemote/index.html file by adding the line:

<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />

directly under the viewport line. Then follow the direction that you linked to above by "add to Home Screen" and rename with ".app" appended to the end (e.g., Remote Buddy.app).

Now when you click the link it will appear as a stand-alone app...

If you have no idea what I'm talking about above when I say edit the ./WebRemote/index.html file then you should probably wait until Felix gets a chance to add this line himself.

I've just done this and it works as described...

Thanks for your postings.

With development of the native client for iPhone OS well underway,
supporting a special feature of Mobile Safari currently seems like an
unnecessary double effort to me.

If done right, support for that would require far more than just
adding a one-liner: the entire AJAX Remote would have to be changed to
display optimized versions for two different screen sizes (the whole
screen minus title bar and tool bar - and - the whole screen minus
title bar).

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz
