RB Not Visible
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hi,

Actually i have problem, sometime i use the "suspend" function to sleep my mac mini especially when using Eyetv in recording some tv program it does go automatically in suspend mode after the finish of the recording.

When the mac mini wake up i can use my mac mini but RB is not usable infact when i activate it is not positioned in the center of the screen but in the lower left corner of the screen and not complete i can estimate only the 40% of the program screen is visible.

I can activate it ant it's seem that it's work but it very difficult to use it infact i cannot recognize the menu item that are available

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for asking.

What kind of screen are you using?
How is it connected?
How long does it take the screen and the Mac Mini to sync after wakeup?

Actually i'm using a generic lcs monitor connected with the mac mini using the vga adapater and the sleep time after when i wake up the mac mini with RB in lower left (some part hidden) could be over 15'' minute, the strange thing that is not sistematic and also it's seem that the problem arise also in conjuction witj EyeTv.

Thanks for the info. I think that what is happening is this:

1) With an analog display, OS X may treat the display the same way as
if it was disconnected when you put your Mac to sleep.

2) Then, when you wake up the Mac and thus the screen, OS X sends a
notification to apps like Remote Buddy (that registered for the event
that the screen configuration was changed) that the screen
configuration changed. That notification is usually sent by OS X up to
a few seconds before a resolution change actually takes place.
Therefore, Remote Buddy will wait a couple of seconds (5 if I recall
correctly) before requesting the current screen size and recenter its
menu - but it won't wait as long as 15 seconds.

3) If your screen needs this long to come up, chances are that at the
time Remote Buddy asks OS X for the current screen resolution and OS X
returns 1 x 1 pixels (instead of f.ex. 1024 x 768). Which in turn
makes RB re-center its menu using that data, which is at position 0 :
0. In OS X coordinate system, 0 : 0 is located at the bottom left of
the screen.

Does your display have a DVI input that you could connect your Mac to
instead? Chances are this reduces wake-up time of your display - or at
least the time needed by OS X to identify the display.

Hello Felix,

Thank for the response, the strange thing happen also if i connect a generic lcd monitor like (1024x768) and let me say that in all case initially RB is positioned in the lower left corner of the the screen after the pressing the "play" button change position on the center botton and i can only see the half of rb.
I have also tried to force other resolution and to come back to the other resolution and no ways to display rb in the original and usable position.
What can i do ?

Thanks

Thanks for the info. Is the LCD monitor connected via a VGA (analog)
or a DVI (digital) cable?

What happens if - say 20 seconds after the monitor woke up - you press
the menu button to close the menu and then another time to open it
again?
