Changing Network connection with Remote Buddy?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I would like to be able to change a network connection to a VPN connection when starting a certain application, and back to normal internet connection at the close of the application.

I'm talking about a standard VPN connection under System Preferences, which can be switched on either in System Preferences->Network and pressing "connect" or optionally with the corresponding VPN menu in OS X upper menu bar. Is there some not-too-difficult way to connect/disconnect VPN using AppleScript?

And if AppleScripts for connect/disconnect VPN can be written how could I attach those to Remote Buddy's application launch & quit actions?

Any help would be appreciated!

Timo

Thanks for asking.

I'm afraid this is beyond the scope of Remote Buddy. I believe to have
read of a tool a years or so ago, though, that specializes in adapting
network settings depending on outside events, but can't remember its
name. Searching Apple OS X Downloads or MacUpdate may be worth a try.
