The "Ajax remote" as a widget?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Hello,

to control my MacMini from my MacBook I use the webinterface of RemoteBuddy.
My wish is to have the screenlayout from the iPhone as a widget in my dashboard.

I tried to use the feature Webclipping of Safari, but it seems that there are no scrollbars possible.
As a workaround, I saved the page as a webarchive and gave it the remote buddy icon:

Perhaps you know a better solution for it.

Thanks for asking.

I'm afraid the lack of scrollbars is a general limitation of the OS X Webclip feature. You may, however, be able to scroll using the scrollwheel of your mouse.

That aside, I don't know an alternative to your approach. Sorry.

You might be able to use the Fluid (fluidapp.com), a program that creates site-specific browsers. It basically turns a single website into almost a standalone app, and it might be possible to use it to display RB's Ajax remote the way you want it. I haven't tried it myself, it was just the first thing I thought of when I read your post.

Of course, Screen Sharing might even be a better way to control one Mac from another....

Yes, this is a good solution!!! Thanks for it.

I had something like this in mind, but couldn't remember the name of the program.

Your right, ScreenSharing is also a good solution.
I use the Ajax remote for little task like put the MacMini to sleep.
