Can Sony RM AV3000 remote control be used with Mac?
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I've got an old Sony RM AV3000 remote control (the LCD screen variety) that would be nice to use with my Mac Mini. Has anyone ever gotten one of these to work with the Mac?

Also - has anyone seen software for the RM AV3000 that allows the Mac to be used to program the device? I can use my VMWare XP session, but it would be nicer to do it "natively".

TIA

Thanks for asking.

The Apple IR receiver is limited - in hardware - to the Apple Remote
codes. Right now, only the Apple Remote, the SiK Rex and a few
Universal Remotes can send these codes.

If you can program your Sony RM AV3000 remote to emit Apple Remote
codes, you should be able to use it with the internal IR Receiver of
your Mac.
