Video genres not working?

I am using Remote Buddy to operate a shared iTunes video library. For the most part everything works great. Albums, artists, playlists and tracks all show up and play properly. Genres don't seem to work properly. They are properly listed, but when I select a genre, instead of seeing matching video tracks what I see is "No entries". Any ideas how to activate video genres, or do I need to create smart playlists that mirror all my video genres? I am using version 1.16.5 and iTunes 9.
