These entries from the FAQ may be relevant to this topic: Hardware - Apple® Remote
To enable you to use all capabilities of the IR Receiver of your Mac®, Remote Buddy is using its own driver. In contrast, all other applications with integrated Apple® Remote support usually use the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.
As long as you're running Remote Buddy, Remote Buddy and its driver are responsible for turning the received button presses into actions. As soon as you quit Remote Buddy, this task is again handled by the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.
If other applications don't use the interface to the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem correctly, this can lead to the effect that nothing happens when you press a button on your Apple® Remote. For as long as you're running Remote Buddy, issues like this are covered by Remote Buddy and it's driver and are therefore not visible to you. However, as soon as you quit Remote Buddy, the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem is back in control and any issues caused in it by other applications become visible.
Therefore Remote Buddy is neither the cause of the issue nor is it responsible for it. Instead, the cause of the issue exists independently of Remote Buddy. It's located elsewhere and can also only be solved there.
Although our products can't cause any such issues, we're regularly contacted about such issues and asked for help. In order to make locating and fixing the cause of such issues as easy and efficient as possible, we've developed a free diagnostics tool: Remote Control Diagnostics. It can locate issues with a single click and will provide you with information about the issue as well as with instructions on how you can fix it.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Thanks for asking. What Mac model are you using? Did you already try to reset your Bluetooth settings as outlined at http://www.iospirit.com/support/forums/remotebuddy/singlethread/15428/ ? This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. I have the same problem since i've installed 10.7.2, i'm using a macmini 2009. I never had this problem before 10.7.2. This could be related to the mentioned fix in http://www.iospirit.com/support/forums/remotebuddy/thread/15410/..... Last edited: 15.10.2011 05:07:19

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Thanks for your feedback. I can't reproduce the issue on 10.7.2 on either the Mac Mini Mid 2011 (Bluetooth 4.0) nor on a MacBook Pro 2011 (Bluetooth 2.1+EDR). I'll also try with older Macs later. In the meantime, do you have Xcode 4 - a free download from the Mac App Store - installed by any chance? If yes, please 1) launch the Packet Logger tool (from /Developer/Applications/Utilities/Bluetooth) 2) click on "Clear" 3) reproduce the issue 4) select "Save As.." from Packet Logger's menu and save the log in pklg format (default) 5) send the log to info ~at~- iospirit ~dot~ com I'll then file a bug with Apple with all packet logs that I receive, so they can - hopefully - fix the issue in 10.7.3. Other than that: are there any circumstances under which the issue always occurs - or never occurs? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Felix Schwarz

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. New strange behaviour: after a couple of reboot/relogin 10.7.2 seems to have accepted ps3 remote, and holds it.. but now Remote Buddy acts weird not establishing connection to ps3..! |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Hi Guys, Exactly the same problem here. MacMini 2009, PS3 BD remote and 10.7.2. All was working well before Lion upgrade this afternoon (from Snow Leopard). BD Remote refuse to keep paired with the MacMini, always requesting a pairing code. Thanks for your help, Cedric, France |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Has anybody tried to replace the bluetooth stack extension from the 10.7.1 to the 10.7.2 distro ? I'll trie this and write you the result ;) |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Just tried the 10.7.0 extensions (no change with Bluetooth kext in 10.7.1) ... with no luck, still stuck on the pairing code. |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Thanks everyone for sending packet logs! Please keep them coming! @Origin: It's my understanding that the Bluetooth kexts only contain part of the stack - with the majority - including the UI - residing in user-space frameworks and daemons. You'd have to identify and exchange these parts of OS X with older versions, too. However, I generally can't recommend replacing parts of OS X with parts of older versions of OS X. Chances are high that'd negatively affect your system's stability or introduce some other, odd side effects. Best regards, Felix Schwarz

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Sure, this is not the ideal solution, but my purpose was just to verify that this bug was caused by a specific update in the kexts (that was the case some month ago with another bug in the bluetooth stack). |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Just FYI, I just saw this report about the OS X 10.7.2 BT stack having issues even with Apple's own products: http://9to5mac.com/2011/10/19/for-some-folks-headache-with-wifi-bluetooth-thunderbolt-display-after-updating-to-mac-os-x-lion-10-7-2/ Best regards, Felix Schwarz

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Hi there, I just want to say that I have the exact same problem after upgrading to 10.7.2 from Snow Leopard. The weird thing is that it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't and I can see no pattern whatsoever in when it does work and when it just gives me the Pairing Request dialog. I have an 27" iMac from 2009.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Just as a short update: I've now filed a detailed bug report with Apple as radr://10332794, titled "10.7.2 Bluetooth stack requests PIN code from devices that don't use a PIN". If you happen to be a developer and you're also affected by the issue, please feel free file a duplicate of that bug through http://bugreporter.apple.com/ Best regards, Felix Schwarz
