PS3 remote disconnects and then will not reconnect without removing the batteries.

Hi Felix,
I am having an issue where i can use my PS3 remote okay for the first time after initial start up, however once the remote disconnects it will not reconnect without first removing the batteries from the remote, then reinserting them. After this i can then press a button on the remote and it will reconnect, but again only once without repeating this each time it disconnects.

My preferences under Pref > Hardware are as follows:
General
Search for paired remotes on startup - Yes
Display pairing instructions - Yes
Display status messages - Yes
Power Saving
Automatically disconnect remote after inactivity of more than - 20 minutes
Disconnect remotes when computer goes to sleep - No

I am running RemoteBuddy 1.22.1 under OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

I have followed the pairing advice under the PS3 remote FAQ and paired the remote successfully.

I am still under the initial trial of RemoteBuddy, but will purchase a licence if we can work this out - as when it works it's fantastic.

Thanks,
James

Thanks for asking.

When the remote disconnects, what status is displayed for it at System Preferences > Bluetooth? (red/green lamp below "BD Remote")

Thanks in advance.

Hi Felix,
The light under Settings > Bluetooth > BD Remote Control
Is red.
Once i take the batteries out, then put them back in again it goes Green once is connects.

Thanks,
James

EDIT:
I have changed the 'Automatically disconnect remote after inactivity of more than - 20 minutes' to 1 minute. Now the remote 'power saves' disconnects before it 'disconnects' therefore I can re connect again by pushing a button, and without removing the batteries.

If the power saving it greater than the time the remote 'disconnects' after I cannot reconnect the remote without removing the batteries. However if RemoteBuddy 'power save' disconnects the remote i can reconnect it fine.

This does seem like a bug, but I have found the above a work around for the time being.

Thanks for the info!

There seems to be a problem when your remote tries to build the connection to the OS X Bluetooth stack - or when the OS X Bluetooth stack tells the remote that it'll close the connection. Remote Buddy only enters the picture later, after that connection has already been established, so this unfortunately doesn't look like an issue Remote Buddy has any influence on - or any chance to fix.

Are you using a Bluetooth USB stick or a Hackintosh by any chance?

Did you try to with fresh/fully charged batteries?

Best regards,
