Apple remote stopped working completelt after 1.23 update
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Once I installed 1.23 version of Remote Buddy, I cannot control my Mac Mini with Apple Remote at all.

The remote itself is functional - I can see the flickering light with my phone camera, and it controls another unit just fine.

When I restart in safe mode, remote does work. In normal mode, nothing. Even when I start Front Row (manually), it doesn't respond to any buttons.

Diagnostics in CandelAir does not find anything wrong.

I tried uninstalling both RB and CandelAir - it didn't help.

I'm out of ideas.

Thanks for asking.

On first read, sounds as if you installed an older version of Candelair than what ships with Remote Buddy. You can check via Remote Buddy's Setup Wizard, when choosing the "Install" option. Versions shipping, installed and currently loaded are listed there.

If it's not that, please copy and paste a full report of the diagnostics function of Candelair (or from Remote Control Diagnostics) in reply, so I get a better idea of what the details of your setup look like.

This all looks fine and I can't see a reason why it should work.

Please try a new battery for your Apple Remote. Even if it still sends signals, these might be incomplete when the battery load has dropped below a critical level.

Thank you for suggestion. It works fine in safe mode. It doesn't work with another remote (I have more than one). I doubt it's a battery issue.
