Support for kodi (XBMC Helix)

With XBMC becoming kodi, Remote Buddy currently doesnt support the new kodi namespace. I was wondering if there is something I could do or something that will allow it to work with the new name.

Thanks for letting me know.

What do you mean by "new kodi namespace"? A different bundle identifier - or something more specific to the XBMC/Kodi world?

Thanks in advance.

I dont think anything has been changed just expanded

Extending JSON-RPC even more
JSON-RPC is a remote procedure call protocol encoded in JSON. It allows any program to communicate to Kodi by sending certain commands and possibly retrieve data back. This is the main method that remotes like our official iOS remote uses to connect to Kodi. With these additions, these remotes become even more capable of controlling your favourite in house media center.

so I believe just bundle identifier (to much time in java land recently for me...)

I am more than happy to beta test things for you if you want.

On the same lines, is there an easy way to copy the mapping from XBMC to Kodi?

I'll take a look.

As for copying mappings: this won't be necessary.

Like with the transition from Plex to Plex/HT, Remote Buddy will check for the latest version of the software - and then apply your existing settings to that.

Any news whether this is working with Kodi yet? I just tried and did not get it working. This may have many other reasons though as I have just tried it today. Thanks!

Any thoughts? Below is a download link to the latest Kodi. Please note that paths and all references were changed from XBMC to Kodi starting from the Helix-Alpha versions. There will no longer be a XBMC directory or any other reference to it.

http://kodi.tv/download/
(check under Kodi 14.0 "Helix")

Thanks!

I would appreciate any feedback on this as well.

I don't want to be pushy but I use Remote Buddy only for XBMC and since I updated to Kodi beta it doesn't work for me.

Thanks

Thanks everyone for your feedback!

You can now grab an update to the XBMC Behaviour that adds support for Kodi:

Thanks for the update. Can someone using MacMini confirm that this update fully works and Kodi is now being supported?

It only partially works for me. Issue is that I cannot tell whether that's due to the Kodi profile or due to me using a Beo4 remote with PUC rather than a native Apple Remote (rf. to my other thread).

So, if someone can confirm that "back", "menu" and "play" work with the upgrade, I can focus my attention on Beo4 remote support.

Thanks!!!

Sorry that I couldn't reply earlier.

I've just tested (again) all actions starting with "Navigation: " including "Navigation: Menu" and "Navigation: Context menu". I've also tested the action named "Left", "Play", "Previous menu" and "Context menu". All worked fine and did what they're supposed to do.

I don't find an action called "Back". Can you give me the exact name of that action? I'll be happy to test this again for you then.

Best regards,
Felix Schwarz

Thanks. This helps to isolate the issue. So, it should not be the issue of Kodi/RemoteBuddy compatibility.

Instead, it must be related to me using the Beo4. It used to work better before upgrading to Kodi. Any chance you can have a look at the thread below and share some thoughts?

Thanks!!!
