This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. As a Plex Pass subscriber, I was happy to hear about the new Plex Media Player... Will we see an update to Remote Buddy to work with this? Blog post for reference: https://blog.plex.tv/2015/10/20/introducing-the-plex-media-player/ Thanks in advance, Dan

These entries from the FAQ may be relevant to this topic: Hardware - Apple® Remote
To enable you to use all capabilities of the IR Receiver of your Mac®, Remote Buddy is using its own driver. In contrast, all other applications with integrated Apple® Remote support usually use the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.
As long as you're running Remote Buddy, Remote Buddy and its driver are responsible for turning the received button presses into actions. As soon as you quit Remote Buddy, this task is again handled by the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem.
If other applications don't use the interface to the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem correctly, this can lead to the effect that nothing happens when you press a button on your Apple® Remote. For as long as you're running Remote Buddy, issues like this are covered by Remote Buddy and it's driver and are therefore not visible to you. However, as soon as you quit Remote Buddy, the OS X Apple® Remote subsystem is back in control and any issues caused in it by other applications become visible.
Therefore Remote Buddy is neither the cause of the issue nor is it responsible for it. Instead, the cause of the issue exists independently of Remote Buddy. It's located elsewhere and can also only be solved there.
Although our products can't cause any such issues, we're regularly contacted about such issues and asked for help. In order to make locating and fixing the cause of such issues as easy and efficient as possible, we've developed a free diagnostics tool: Remote Control Diagnostics. It can locate issues with a single click and will provide you with information about the issue as well as with instructions on how you can fix it.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Yes. There might be some additional tweaking or default mapping if you use any other remote that a Harmony Smart Controller but I have been using it yesterday and I mapped all my remotes buttons and it works flawlessly except for the remote buddy menu when app is enabled. I'll post an update when I have some time to tweak this. This is my first behavior so I mostly wanted to validate the core key mappings.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Hello Antoine, and thank you for your script! It works great. I was wondering if there was a way though for your script to close out any prior application before launching. I am switching between Plex Media Player, Plex Home Theater (still trying to migrate getting used to media player) and XBMC. Didn't want to have all of them open whenever I try to open another application. Thanks! -J

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Hi, I will post an updated version supporting a few more configurations. As for your question, I think it is possible, you just have to edit the behavior the creation tool. You can orchestrate action, including scripted actions so basically you could type any code to close any apps in between.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. Awesome! Yeah i'm not sure how I can add my action to your behaviour. Every time i add your behaviour to the construction kit it doesn't come up correctly. Only when I drop it straight into the folder does it work. THEN if I add a new behaviour to add my action too, it creates a duplicate Plex Media Player >_< Basically... I'd love to have your Behaviour with the "Behaviour Action: Quit currently controlled application" Prior to the "Behaviour Action: Activate Plex Media Player Behaviour" being activated. That way when plex opens, last app is closed. |

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. +1 for PMP support! It seems to work fine for me now but wish it wasn't such a hassle to go through the whole Applications list to pick PMP out of that list.

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information. How is the current status on PMP support? I would love to switch to PMP over PHT... I couldn't get the behaviour that was posted here to work with our Apple remote.
