No Luck with Behavior Construction
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
Felix, I was so excited at the idea of building ones own behaviors with Preview 5 and immediately watched the easy and straight forward building instruction video and went to building.

I first choose Trans Lucy 2, I figured it would be an easy and straight forward build, especially since it has hot keys built in, in its preferences using the Alt/Option key and an F-Function key. On the keyboard they all work great. So I went to building, watching your video as I went along.

Finished everything, watched your video again and double checked everything. Went to test and all my computer does when I use the remote is make its default beep at me, the behaviors do nothing. :-(

This is the second app I tried with the same results. =-(

I mean if this has hot key commands, why would they not work with behaviors??

Hello Erick,

sorry to hear that but the fix shouldn't be far away :-)

Remote Buddy only makes a beeping sound on button presses, if no
functionality is mapped to it. So, what probably happened here is
that you did not map any of your created actions to the buttons of a
new behaviour and/or the metadata of that behaviour has an error in it.

If you want, you can send me screenshots of the three tabs of the
Behaviour Factory (you can use Apple + Shift + 4 for this) plus an
action pack with the actions (select all of them, then use gearwheel
popup to export as an action pack) to felix.schwarz (put an @ here)
iospirit.com and I'll have a look at it.

Do your actions work if you click on "Run actor"? Have you dragged
the application it should be targeted to in the respective field and
activated the two checkboxes above and below the bundle identifier
field?

Cheers,
Felix

After Erick supplied me with the data, here's the followup with the
solution for anybody else interested:

Global hotkeys (key combinations that invoke some program no matter
where you press that key combination) must always be sent globally
and not directly to the respective application. Only shortcuts (i.e.
those you find in your applications' menus) should be sent directly
to the applications.
