vlc, second screen, Remote Buddy

Hi,

i just downloaded remote buddy and its great for now!
I want to use my MBP as a media central with vlc for playing HD video files on my beamer. The beamer is my second screen and has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Now I want to play these video files with vlc, because it can passthrough 5.1 ac3 or dts sound to my multichannel receiver attached with S/PDIF to my MBP.
My problem is, how can I do it, that, when opening a movie, this movie shows up on the beamer in fullscreen and not on my MacBookPro? Or can I map a key from the Apple Remote to do the F7 function (syncing screens) so that remote buddy shows up on the beamer as well.
Another suggestion is to put a key sequence on a key (likely long press - or so) to select the beamer as main screen and play the movie on this screen?

Sincerly, Jan

Hi Jan,

thanks for your posting, sorry for the delay in answering.

I don't see a way to make VLC move its window to a screen of your
choice. It remembers the position of the playlist window but not the
playback window. You could however create a simple action in the
Behaviour Construction Kit that emulates the keystroke needed to sync
screens, check the "Globally available" checkbox and then map it in
the preferences either inside the VLC mapping settings or globally
(although I wouldn't do this for this function).

I've looked into ways to switch main screens but yet have to find
one. This function in OS X is not covered in its dev docs. I'll keep
looking into it, though. No promises, but the idea for sure is not
forgotten.

Best regards,
Felix
