Keyspan DRM with Apple Remote
View

This posting is older than 6 months and can contain outdated information.
I have not been able to get my apple remote to work with the Keyspan DMR receiver. I have completely unistalled the keyspan drivers. the DMR remote works well (thank you very much), but it just doens't recognize the Apple Remote at All.

Thanks for a great product.

Hello Jc,

thanks for reporting!

If the DMR remote does work with Remote Buddy, the fact that the
Apple Remote does not work for you can only mean that there is a
problem in Remote Buddy recognizing your remote's signals. Since the
Apple Remotes embed a unique number within their IR signals, it may
be possible, that I included part of these into the pattern used for
recognition.

May I send you a debug version that outputs the raw signals it
receives, so I can have a closer look at how they differ from my two
Apple Remotes?

This should allow me to solve the problem pretty easily and quickly :-)

Best regards,
Felix

Just a quick followup:

The Keyspan driver does filter out Apple Remote signals if the Mac
you have connected it to already has an built-in IR receiver.
If it wouldn't do so, Remote Buddy would receive each signal twice -
and render it virtually unusable.

If a Mac does not already have such a built-in IR receiver for the
Apple Remote, the Keyspan driver will recognize and handle the IR
signals of both the Apple Remote and the Keyspan Remote.

Best regards,
Felix
