I've recently added the 2011 Mac mini to the Remote Buddy test lab and haven't experienced this issue.

What you describe suggests that an error occurs on the internal USB connection to your Apple IR Receiver that Candelair can't correctly recover from or currently doesn't recognize as such. Errors on the internal USB connection rarely occur and therefore are hard to reproduce or provoke in tests.

Please try uninstalling Candelair and check whether the problem still occurs.
